Privacy Statement
Last updated: 26 October 2026
This statement explains how MythTV NZ handles personal information when you visit mythtv.co.nz or contact the site. It is written for the site's current static pages and contact-by-email process. The New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles apply where relevant.
Information the site handles
The pages do not require an account, accept payments, run comments, or submit contact details to a site server. The contact form runs in your browser and opens a draft email in your email app. Nothing is sent to MythTV NZ until you choose to send that email.
- Email messages: If you email us, we receive your email address and any name or other details you include. We use them to reply to your request and handle any follow-up. Providing them is voluntary; without a return address, we may not be able to reply.
- Server logs: The hosting provider may process technical request details, such as an IP address, browser information, requested page, referral address and time of access, to deliver and secure the site. The provider controls its own logging, retention period and storage location under its service terms.
- Cookies and analytics: The site code does not set or read cookies or browser storage and does not include analytics, advertising pixels or behavioural tracking.
How information is used and shared
We use correspondence to answer it and maintain the conversation. We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers needed to receive or store email and host the site, or where disclosure is required or authorised by law. Email and hosting providers may process information in New Zealand or overseas under their own terms.
Pages may link to other websites. Those services set their own privacy practices, which apply when you follow a link. Do not include passwords, payment details, identity documents or sensitive health information in a general email.
Retention and security
We keep correspondence only while it is needed to respond and manage reasonable follow-up, then delete it unless a legal obligation or a legitimate need to retain a record requires longer. Hosting logs are managed by the hosting provider under its terms. We take reasonable care when handling messages and restrict access to people who need them to reply.
Your privacy rights
You may ask whether we hold personal information about you, request access to it, or ask us to correct it. If we do not make a requested correction, you may ask us to attach a statement of correction. Email kiwidesk@mythtv.co.nz with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We may need to confirm your identity before responding.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. See the Privacy Act 2020 and the Commissioner's explanation of the Information Privacy Principles.
